Special Olympics World Winter Games – 2022 in Kazan
In January 2022, the thousand-year old city of Kazan will host the Special Olympics World Winter Games.
Nearly 2,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities and unified partners from 108 countries from all over the world are expected to take part in the event, with about 3,000 volunteers and 4,000 dignitaries and their family members joining them.
The Games' legacy will see significant growth in special athlete movement as well as contribute to advancement of inclusiveness in society and world sports.
The Special Olympics 2022 in Kazan will be the first international sporting event in Russia held under the auspices of the Special Olympics International. The city is well-equipped to host the seven sports of World Winter Games - alpine skiing, snowboarding, floorball, cross-country skiing, figure skating, short track speedskating and snowshoeing.
